Chinese Language Translators
Chinese language belongs to the Sino-Tibetan language family, which comes from the Proto-Sino-Tibetan language. There are over one billion people who speak Chinese, which makes it the first language in the world by the number of speakers. It is the official language of the People's Republic of China, the Republic of China (Taiwan), Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore. It is one of official languages of the United Nations and it is recognized as a minority language in Malaysia, the Philippines and the United States. It is also spoken in Indonesia, Canada, Vietnam, Australia and other Chinese communities around the world. Standard Chinese language has taken the form of Mandarin language which is based on the Beijing dialect.
Written Chinese language has barely changed since its beginnings. It is based on printed calligraphic style and therefore it is understood and used by all speakers. However, the spoken language has undergone many changes throughout its development, i.e. written symbols are pronounced in a different way in different areas. There are also many transcription systems for Chinese, most of which are based on the Latin alphabet. The Pinyin transcription system is used in China and Singapore, while the Palladius Cyrillic system is in Russia. Chinese has seven basic dialects - Mandarin, Hui, Wu including the Shanghai variant, Cantonese, Min including the Taiwanese variant), Xiang, Hakka and Gan, while the Ji'an, Hui and Ping dialects separated in a later stage. It is interesting that speakers of Chinese know standard Chinese language, their local dialect and a local meta dialect. The language is regulated by the National Language and Character Working Committee in the People's Republic of China, the National Language Committee in the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Council for the Promotion of Mandarin in Singapore.
